/verification settings
Overview
/verification settings opens an interactive dashboard for requiring new members to complete a challenge, a button click, image CAPTCHA, math problem, or word puzzle, before they can talk in your server.
Required Permissions

Subcommands
settings
No options. Running the command opens a dashboard with an Overview, Challenge, Roles, Appearance, Lockdown, and Trust page.
Dashboard settings
The dashboard is split into six pages: Overview, Challenge, Roles, Appearance, Lockdown, and Trust.
Overview page
- Turn on verification: a one-click setup that creates a verification channel, creates an "Unverified" role, posts the verification panel, and locks down the rest of the server for unverified members.
- Change the verification channel.
- Turn verification off. This pauses the system without clearing your other settings.
- Reset all: releases any active lockdown and clears every verification setting, after a confirmation step.
Challenge page
- Verification type: button (default, one click), image CAPTCHA, math problem, or word puzzle.
- Delivery mode: persistent (default, one shared verify button that stays posted) or ping (each new member is pinged individually).
- What happens if a member doesn't verify in time: kick (default), timeout, quarantine, or nothing.
- Tries and round length: how many wrong attempts are allowed (default 5) and how long each round lasts (default 5 minutes).
- Timeout length: if the timeout action is selected, how long the timeout lasts (default 10 minutes, 1 minute to 28 days).
- CAPTCHA appearance: for image CAPTCHA, set the background color, code length (4–10 characters, default 6), visual noise level (easy, medium, or hard), whether numbers are included, and whether answers are case-sensitive.
Roles page
- Verified role: given to members after they complete verification. BetterAntiSpam can create one for you (named "SAB Verified") if you don't have one.
- Unverified role: applied to members before they verify, used to restrict what they can see and do.
- Apply to existing members: a one-time bulk action that applies the Unverified role to every current member who doesn't already have it.
Appearance page
- Customize the verification panel's title, description, accent color, and banner image.
- Customize the verify button's label.
- Toggle a "skip verification" shortcut button.
- Restore the panel's default appearance.
Lockdown page
- Choose channels that stay visible (but not writable) to unverified members.
- Turn lockdown on or off. Turning it on requires an unverified role and verification channel to already be set. When on, unverified members lose access to every channel except the verification channel and any channels you've chosen to keep visible.
Trust page
- Trust old accounts: skip verification for accounts older than a minimum age. Leave the age blank to use BetterAntiSpam's built-in cutoff (accounts from roughly 2017 or earlier).
Behavior
- Turning on lockdown automatically pauses any auto-purge configurations from
/autonuke settingswhile it's active, and resumes them when lockdown is turned off. - Setting a verified role automatically hides your staff and log channels from members with that role.
- Quarantine as a timeout action shares the same quarantine role used by
/antispam settings,/antinuke settings, and/antiraid settings. - Members use
/verifyto request the verification prompt again if they missed it, and staff can use/force verifyto send it to a specific member.
